About
the
Artist
Deb has been a creator most of her life, turning just about anything into art. Her canvases have ranged from paper and fabric to metal, stones, and even fence posts, while her tools span everything from sewing machines and jigsaws to brushes, toothpicks, and whatever else the work calls for. Her years in digital design have laid a strong foundation for her current exploration into fine art, where she now works primarily with oils on canvas.
Her process begins with free, expressive mark making through layers of ink, crayon, spray paint, and gesture, and gradually moves toward clarity and detail. This way of working mirrors her own life journey through the tangled, joyful, unpredictable beauty of being human.
Tender Wild
Tender Wild is a celebration of the quiet, instinctive bond between mother and baby . Each piece begins with raw marks of spontaneous layers of spray paint, alcohol inks, and crayon that echo nature’s unpredictability. With textured gestures, forms begin to emerge, guided by intuition rather than control. Finally, oil paint refines the details, adding softness, depth, and emotional resonance. The result is a fusion of chaos and care, mirroring the world these creatures inhabit.
Out From the Shadow
Exploring the transformative journey of color and light, this series encourages viewers to explore the freedom that comes from movement, to gain the confidence to move from hiddenness to revelation, and the courage to end silence. Each face emerges in its own way: some with the immediacy of sudden change, others in gradual shifts and softened contours, embodying the slow refining of inner renewal.
She Wears the Light
Celebrating the strength, softness, and complexity of every women, each painting begins in freedom with layered splashes of ink, crayon, spray paint, and stencil work that form the emotional groundwork. These loose, energetic marks are then shaped with broad strokes of oil paint and refined details, revealing a unique beauty that was hidden in plain sight.
The faces emerge from this creative process as if called forward from the canvas, echoing the way real beauty often waits quietly within us. Some gazes are bold, others shy or thoughtful, but all invite the viewer to look beyond the surface.
This collection carries a message of affirmation, that beauty is not reserved for the few. It lives in every woman. Sometimes it simply needs to be seen, named, and welcomed into the light.
Beaches, Boards, and Birds
Inspired by the rhythms and textures of the windswept beaches, salt marshes and rolling surf of the coast, this collection invites viewers to pause and feel the sun, salt, and breeze. Not just as a memory, but as a living presence on canvas.
Early layers of spontaneous motion of inks, crayons, stencils, and spray paint echo the crashing waves, shifting dunes, and rustling grasses. As the paintings evolve, broad strokes of oil paint and hand-drawn detail bring clarity and stillness and highlight moments of beauty pulled from the chaos. The result is a visual rhythm between freedom and form, gesture and grace.
Paths Home invites the viewer into imagined landscapes. Winding paths lead through gardens in full bloom, drawing the eye and the heart toward the front door. These scenes are not just places, but feelings of belonging, warmth, and possibility.
Created with vibrant, radiant color, each painting begins with expressive brushwork and is finished with a palette knife, adding texture, energy, and light-catching dimension. Flowers spill into the foreground. The cottages glow with welcome. These are homes of the heart, painted places we all long to return to or dream of discovering.
